(6-24-15) Pekin, IL - A Pekin man has been
sentenced to nearly six months in prison for tying up his mother and robbing
her.
Austin Smith pleaded guilty yesterday to burglary. He will
only have to serve half of his prison term after getting credit for time
served.
Smith will also receive two years of probation once released.
Prosecutors say the defendant climbed through the window of his mother's home
in March wearing a mask and carrying a knife.
They say Smith tied her up
and tried to get money, but ended up running away without retrieving any
cash. He was caught later that day.
